Carnival Hunt ultimate beginner bunny guide

Quick explanation

First of all. This guide will be updated when the game updates, due to me having a life outside the game (sort of) I won't be able to change everything instantly. If there are any changes or info that I missed or mistakes I made, feel free to contact me on Discord. This can be in the form of a DM or a comment on the post in the tips and tricks channel.

The goal of the game

As a bunny the goal is to escape the carnival. This can be achieved in two ways.

  1. Opening the exit gates on the fourth floor
  2. Finding the hat when the puppet master got bored

In this guide I'll explain everything you need to know to make this possible.

UI

When playing as a bunny there will be a lot of things you need to pay attention to.

In the bottom left of the screen, you'll find the most important UI parts.

Charge

The red bar is your charge. You can compare this with stamina. When the bar reaches 0, you will fall down and won't be able to move untill a teammate charges you. Everything you do costs charge. So don't run all the time, and use jumps sparingly. To keep your charge up throughout the game, you can use chargeboxes, Jack and teammates.

Sanity

The yellow bar around the bunny icon is your sanity. Once this gets full, you will turn insane. To lower your sanity, you can use cuddlebuns.

When you're insane, you will lose control of your character. If other players come near you, you will hunt them like the active imposters do. To get out of insanity, you have to hit skillchecks.

Life Gears

Above the red bar. you will see three gears. These are your life gears. After taking falldamage, being thrown or after you've been put into a cage, you will lose one. When you get caught without any life gears left, the magician can kill you, ending your match.

To restore one of the life gears after it has been broken, you can use an oiler.

Active gear

The icon with the "R" next to it is an active gear upgrade. When you equip an active gear before the game starts, this icon will be there. When pressing the "R" button if the active gear is off cooldown, the ability given by the active gear will trigger. This could be a number of different things. (higher jump, dash, ...)

Teammate UI

On the top left, you will find your teammates UI. Giving you information about how many life gears they have left and how much charge they're on.

Ways to progress

Zipline

The zipline needs four charges to activate. To charge it, stand next to the strongmen striker and interact with it. Your bunny will pull out a hammer and you'll get skillchecks. Each successful skillcheck will result in one charge being added. If you hit a critical skillcheck, two charges will be added instead. After the striker is fully charged, a handlebar will appear at the zipline. Grabbing onto the handlebar will make you go up one floor, deactiving the zipline and resetting the striker. As soon as someone uses the charged zipline, the next one can start hammering.

When you charge a strongmen striker, the magician will be alerted every time you succeed a skillcheck. When a zipline is fully charged, he will see the outline of the zipline. He will not get notified if someone get's on it.

Ferris wheel

The ferris wheel is a good way to get multiple bunnies to the fourth floor at the same time. To activate it, you have to pull the lever. After pulling the lever the ferris wheel in the connected room will be active for 60 seconds. Within this time, multiple bunnies can use it to get to the fourth floor.

When you pull the lever, the magician will be notified that the ferris wheel has been activated.

Cannon

To use the cannon you will need 2 players. One player crawls into the cannon and one sits in the cannon carriage. The bunny inside of the cannon will be shot up to the next floor, losing a life gear on impact.

When you shoot the cannon the magician will be notified. But he won't be able to know if a bunny has been shot or if it was an empty cannon.

The rollercoaster

The rollercoaster is only available on the first floor of amusement hall. You need one bunny to activate it making it go to the second floor. If you want to use it to go to the second floor, you will need multiple bunnies. The person charging the cart, can't get in it after it's left. If you want to send bunnies up, be sure that someone is sitting in it before charging. To charge it you will need a key.

When the rollercoaster has been activated, the magician will be notified. But he won't be able to know if there are bunnies in the cart through the notification. So he will have to check the location to see if it was a fake or not.

Gates

Some parts of the map are blocked off with gates. Opening these could result in an additional way to get to the next floor or just create a passageway on the same floor. To open a gate, you need to put a gear in a gearbox and charge it with a key. In some places, the gearboxes to open a gate going to the next floor, are on said next floor. An example of this is the staircase going from the second floor of amusement hall to the third floor. In some other places. There will be double gates going up, so you will need to find two gears.

When you are opening a gate, the magician will be notified.

Ropes

An item you can find is rope. On the second and third floor you can find rope spots. After you or your teammate places a rope it will become a permanent way to get up. RopeSpot

Getting items / Jack

Dead bunnies

Throughout the map dead bunnies will be scattered around with item inside of them.

Throughout the map chests will be scattered around with item inside of them. To open them you need a lockpick.

Jack

You can find jack in both wings on the first floor. If you have a toolbox you can exchange it together with some candies for a set of three items at random. If you have a key and some candies, you can charge yourself at jack.

Minigame

On the first floor of the centre room with the carousel. There is a minigame. You can start it with a key. After it's been started you can throw candies at the targets. If all the targets are hit. You will get a random item. This minigame is not available on the centre room with the statue.

Be careful, when you activate the minigame the magician gets notified.

Playing against The Magician

The Magician has some abilities that you need to know of so you can avoid or outplay him.

Staying hidden

Everything you do as a bunny can make The Magician alert of your location. By walking you limit the noice you make so it's more difficult for him to track you. This is kindoff a stealth based game. So be stealthy and don't run around like a headless chicken. Things like pinging, using voicechat, running, jumping, ..., will by noticable by The Magician.

In chase

When The Magician is chasing you try to use everything you have to make the chase last as long as possible. It's still better to hide and to make sure he can't find you, but chases are sometimes inevitable. Use your trampolines or balloons to get to places he can't easily grab you, take shortcuts, ... Use bicyles, marbles and fireworks to gain distance. Smokes can be used to make it more difficult to follow you.

Panic

After The Magician throws you, drops you or after you get out of a cage or fall down. You will get panic. In panic mode, you can't take damage. So if he continues to chase you, it's not a bad idea to jump down a floor. Around the map you will see bunnyholes, while in panic, these will be highlighed in blue. You will be able to jump in them and you will be telepoted to a random location on the first floor.

When The Magician grabs you while you are panicked. You will get an easy skillcheck. Hitting this skillcheck will result in The Magician dropping you again.

Panic is the anti-tunnel tool of the game.

Saving teammates

If you see a teammate in chase and you have fireworks or marbles. It could be smart to stay nearby. When The Magician is holding a teammate, you can shoot him with a firework or put marbles beneat hit feet. Resulting in him dropping the bunny.

Imposter bunny

The Magician can place down imposter bunnies. These can be active or dead. To recognize them by looking at their teeth.

If an imposter gets you, you get skillchecks to get them off. Hitting two normal skillchecks or one critical skillcheck is enough. If another player is nearby they can help you as well by pulling it off.

Active imposter

An active imposter will walk around like a normal bunny and pathfind to a nearby bunny that's not playing dead.

If the active imposter get's in range of a walking player bunny, he will start to chase them.

You can destroy them with a firework.

Dead imposter

A dead imposter will just lie on the floor. When you're on top of them and make a noice, they will trigger and get you. To bypass these imposters, you can walk over them or destroy them with a firework.

The following actions will trigger them:

  • running over them
  • riding a bike over them
  • placing a gear in a gearbox
  • charging a gearbox
  • hitting a strongmen striker
  • jumping on a zipline
  • activating the ferris wheel lever

Hat grab

The Magician has a ranged hat grab. Using this, he can grab bunnies from a distance. Always be aware of your surroundings. If he is trying to use it while you are running, be sure to be inpredictable with your movement. If you are doing an action, try to cancel it fast and run around.

Cards

If you are grabbed by The Magician, he might put a card on you. These cards give different debuffs. If you notice that he put a card on you, be sure to check what card it is and act accordingly.

Listening

The Magician has a listening ability. Whenever you hear "Shhh" you need to play dead. If you fail to do so, your aura will be revealed to The Magician.
