A Fresh Look at Parkour and Combat - Dying Light: The Beast

Techland has given us a new look behind the scenes of Dying Light: The Beast, and it shows just how much the team has focused on making movement and fighting feel better than ever. The developers are pushing for a style that feels heavier, more grounded, and much more immersive compared to previous games.

Elevated Parkour

One of the biggest changes comes from the parkour system. Every jump, climb, and vault has a realistic weight to it, and the new animations make it all flow together in a natural way. The freedom of movement stands out — you can climb without limits and there are no extra assists in the normal difficulty, which makes every action feel earned. With over 100 new animations for Kyle, including seventeen unique edge-grab and climbing moves, getting around the city looks smoother and more dynamic than ever.

Combat with impact

Combat has also been given serious attention. Thanks to a new physics system, weapon swings connect with real force, enemies react with natural ragdoll effects, and the fights feel much more intense. The AI has been upgraded too, which means enemies act smarter, making battles unpredictable and exciting. Combined with the fluid animation work, every encounter feels cinematic and brutal in the best possible way.

This behind-the-scenes look makes one thing clear: Dying Light: The Beast isn’t just building on what came before, it’s setting a new bar for immersive parkour and combat. If this is just a taste of what’s to come, then players have a lot to look forward to.
